To be honest, I am not sure how I feel about the newly located Finn’s Beach Club in Canggu, mostly due to loving this quiet little beach for many years as it was.
So heading down what used to be a quiet stretch of road in Berawa to find the grand new construction all felt all a bit weird. However in saying that the bamboo structure is incredibly beautiful and once the palms are a little more established it may look like it’s always been there.
Being greeted with that warm Balinese smile at the security check seems like the done thing these days sadly, however knowing security is thorough is a good thing I guess. I arrived late morning to meet a friend for some drinks and lunch and there was already queues at the reception so the word is definitely out there that this is the place to be and the people are loving it.
They have towels and sunlounges available for hire; see their website for details, which require a minimum spend and also larger day beds so your posse can hang all day. With all the beautiful people in their bathers showing off hot young fit bods, with drinks in their hands enjoying the DJs relaxed day time beats and sunshine out it makes for great people watching.
I felt it was very cosy around the pool with sun lounges packed around in to make maximum usage of the space or layered perhaps 5-deep along the ocean front. It felt a little claustrophobic to me (I am getting a little old though these days hahaha and enjoy my space). I’m not sure if the black fabric on the day beds would get super hot in the steamy Bali mid-day heat as well.
I chose to sit in the beautiful, spacious, shady restaurant and was in awe of the stunning structure and enjoyed a nice strong mojito. My friend arrived a little later as traffic was hectic and we then ordered a few more cocktails, duck spring rolls, nasi goreng and a chicken wrap all of which were delicious. The staff are very friendly and service was ok and the prices fair (check out the photos of the menu).
It may take me a little while to get used to you Finns, so please bear with me.
I would be keen to hear what others think and have you enjoyed a day here yet ?
